Cold pressed panel adhesive (solid wood splicing adhesive) is a water-based two-component adhesive that is used in recommended proportions with a curing agent. It can cure at room temperature and the adhesive film is water-resistant and heat-resistant. Meet JAS cold/boiling water testing requirements, comply with EU D4 level standards, pass ten ring certification, pass GB/T 18583-2008, ROHS, REACH, ortho benzene 17P and other tests

Application scope: Common cold pressed bonding and bonding of various woods such as Northeastern birch, rubber wood, lotus wood, Kashnan, pine, cypress and miscellaneous wood, beech, white wax wood, ash, chestnut, red eucalyptus, oak, teak, and Borrog

Fast curing speed and high initial adhesive strength

When using a specified proportion of curing agent, it can achieve bonding speed and is suitable for most production processes.

High bonding strength, good water and heat resistance

Applied to the vast majority of wood, meeting EU D4 grade standards, and passing JAS cold/boiling water testing

How to use wood splicing adhesive?

  1.  Find out the name of the wood to be spliced and ask the glue supplier to recommend a suitable glue.
  2.  Confirm that the moisture content of the wood is 8-12%, and polish and repair the surface of the wood.
  3.  Prepare the glue (if curing agent is needed, mix according to proportion), and use tools (brush, glue roller, etc.) to apply glue to the wood.
  4.  Use tools (plywood, paneling equipment, etc.) to evenly apply pressure to the wood for a certain period of time (determined by the glue formula, wood density, ambient temperature and humidity).
  5.  After removing the pressure, it needs to be left to stand for at least 24 hours before entering the next production process.

Application notes

  1. The moisture content of wood should be controlled at 8-12%, and the wood surface should be flat, smooth, not warped, and able to fit tightly.
  2. The ratio of main agent (glue) to hardener is 100:15. After mixing the main agent (glue) and hardener in proportion, stir thoroughly for 3-5 minutes until evenly mixed.
  3. After the glue is prepared, please use it within 30-40 minutes. When serious foaming and thickening occur, please stop using and discard it (the higher the temperature, the shorter the time).
  4. Glue amount: 200-230 g/m² for single-sided gluing, 120-150 g/m² for double-sided gluing. The double-sided gluing effect is good.
  5. Pressurization time (cold pressing): 1-3 hours
  6. After the pressure is relieved, it should be aged for a period of time (more than 24 hours in winter; more than 18 hours in summer) before entering the next processing step. When testing is required, please wait at least 7 days before testing to ensure accurate test results.

Wood splicing adhesive FAQs

Q1. Why does “crack” appear at the bonding point after using wood panel glue?

A1. a. The moisture content of the wood exceeds the standard value (8-12%). b. The wood surface is uneven or contaminated by dust, which affects the normal penetration of the glue. c. The amount of glue applied is too little. d. The glue is left for too long before use, exceeding the open time. e. The pressure applied is uneven or insufficient. f. After bonding, the wood is immediately moved to a harsh environment (temperature and humidity changes too much).

Q2. Why does some wood crack when glued together, but other wood is fine?

A2. a. Some wood (pine, teak, etc.) has not been degreased, so the glue cannot penetrate into the wood. b. The density of the wood is too high, so the glue is not suitable. c. The pores of some wood are relatively loose, so the glue is completely absorbed by the wood.

Q3. Do all wood splicing glues need to be used with a curing agent? What is the function of a curing agent?

A3. Not necessarily. The main function of the curing agent is to improve the bonding strength and water resistance of the glue. If the density of the wood is relatively low and no water resistance test is required, no curing agent can be added.
