When the humidity in the air is greater than 60%, it can be considered that the humidity of the ambient is high. When the humidity is high, when solid wood processing manufacturers use laminated splicing glue for solid wood laminating, it is easy to causes the panels to be covered with water and the glue to evaporate slowly, which can easily lead to the glue film sinking, turning white, and the panels cracking after solid wood laminating.
Precautions when using solid wood laminated adhesive in humid weather
We have always recommended that the ambient humidity is 40-60% as the optimal ambient humidity for solid wood laminating. However, if you need to perform a lamination process when the humidity in the air is high, we recommend that furniture manufacturers use solid wood laminated adhesive when splicing. The following needs to be done:
1. Increase the amount of hardener to 12%-15% (2% increase compared to the normal amount), that the ratio is, Glue: Hardener = 100: 12~15 (by weight). If it is a wooden floor, the ratio is 100:15.
2. Pressurization time: The pressurization time should be extended to 1.5-2 times under the same conditions. For a wooden floor, it is 80-100 minutes. When used in high frequency (high frequency, which uses electric current to speed up the bonding of wood curing time), the time is extended by 15-30 seconds.
3. After solid wood lamination, please ensure that the health preservation time is more than 24 hours, and the air humidity is between 40-55%. After the health preservation is completed, proceed to the next process. If product testing is required, do it after 5 days.
4. The temperature of the workshop working, solid wood laminate glue, and materials that need to be worked on (such as boards, wood chips, core boards, etc.) must not be lower than 10°C, and the humidity of the boards must not be lower than 12%.
5. The workshop working under high humidity needs to be ventilated, the ambient temperature around the processed products should be increased as much as possible and the ambient humidity should be reduced (such as ambient heating and ventilation).
6. Finally, when the ambient humidity is greater than 90%, the solid wood lamination work needs to be stopped. Wait until the ambient temperature reaches the optimal humidity of 40-60% before proceeding with the solid wood lamination work.
